Football

Football, often referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers can use their hands within their penalty area). The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with goals at each end.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). It is one of the most popular sports worldwide, known for its widespread following, competitive leagues, and international tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup.

The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, with various playing styles and tactics employed by teams. Football has a rich history and cultural significance in many countries, serving as a source of entertainment, community pride, and national identity.
