Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). It is played on a rectangular court divided by a net, and players use a racket to hit a ball over the net into the opponent’s court. The objective is to score points by making the ball land in the opponent’s court in a way that they cannot return it or by forcing them to hit the ball out of bounds.

Tennis is characterized by its unique scoring system, where points accumulate to games, games to sets, and sets to matches. Players can win matches in various formats, including the best of three or five sets. The sport is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and features major tournaments such as the Grand Slam events: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.

Tennis can be played on different surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts, each affecting the ball’s speed and bounce. The sport is popular worldwide and is known for its mix of physical endurance, strategy, and skill.
